Michele, Janet and Andrew are the core teachers of the teaching cohort in Bristol and work with Cesar Velasquez designing the rolling curriculum and ongoing programme. The 3 directors/teachers also work with visiting international teachers to prepare exciting, challenging classes and workshops to stimulate and enjoy. In particular, hands-on help is always available, as well as music info and other aspects of historical interest.
Cesar Velasquez, from Columbia, is our regular visiting teacher at TangoWest, having worked with us for over two years in Bristol. He and his partner Carolina Gonzalez Prado are top international performers and teachers based in London, and we are very proud and privileged to have developed a close working relationship with them over the years.
Cesar is noted for his tremendous knowledge of movement and dance as
well as his extremely dynamic insightful approach to tango. We continue
to enjoy his tuition and plan to involve him fully in our tenth
Anniversary. See Cesar at www.latinculture.net
Joaquín Amenábar is the teacher of the Bandoneon Class at the Conservatory of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is also the Director and First bandoneónist of the " Orquesta Tìpica de la Guardia Vieja" in Buenos Aires.
As well as his experience as a tango musician and tango dancer, Joaquin has been teaching tango music for dancers for seven years in the US, Europe and Australia.
Joaquin joined us at Tango West last year and we were delighted that he came back to teach for us in January 08 as part of our Anniversary season of events. His classes were immensely popular. What is important about his method of teaching Tango Music for Dancers is that no musical knowledge is needed and the classes are not theoretical at all. 90% of the time is spent dancing (or walking) to music. His classes this year dealt in depth with interpreting the rhythmical & melodic complexity of Tango music.
Joaquín is a skilled tango dancer and has developed a very effective
method of teaching musicality to tango dancers that have no formal
education in music, avoiding any references to theoretical musical
concepts or using technical terminology

Stefan and Komala Of all the emotions you experience in the tango, there is above all, one which especially refers to Komala & Stefan: Passion! Passion for life itself, passion for each other and passion for the tango. Their motto: it's not the (amount of) figures that make the dance; it's the connection and the moving in the music with your partner. Stefan and Komala will be back with us on 21st May!
With their warm. enthusiastic, dynamic and playful approach they stimulate you to learn to feel the music and to translate and express this into smooth, relaxed but still powerful movements.
